Podcasting: 60 Second Idea to Improve the World

Podcasting is beneficial for building students’ creativity and making the task interesting and giving an ability to students to work on their speaking or listening skills. The type of the podcast should be concerned regard to the source, audience and purpose. It can be ready made, teacher created or learner crated and these effects the task. Teachers could choose authentic or ESL/EFL podcasts regard to their students’ proficiency level and teaching purpose. Moreover, the purpose of the podcast could create different types such as interview, solo/monologue, conversational and storytelling.

In this task for my course, I made a learner created solo podcast. I used Vocaroo for recording. The interface of the site I used was quite simple and user-friendly. It was possible to record just by pressing the play button and it did not require the user to have any signing or fee. They also created many options for saving the recording and sharing the link. I found the site very student and user friendly. I'm thinking of using it later. In summary, I did not have any problems with the tool during the recording phase.

Recording and listening your own voice was a challenging task for me because I tried to be perfect. However, being positive and clearly sharing ideas with a proper usage of the language is sufficient. I remembered these and tried my best again and recorded my last audio. The whole process was interesting so I will definitely use podcasting in my future classes as a teacher.
